Senior Guy Photographers Minneapolis | Liam

By Joanna Carina

MN Senior Guy Photographer

Sarah and her family are neighbors of ours. One summer day, Sarah and I were talking in the yard when she asked me if I’d take her son’s senior portraits. I was thrilled! They loved my photos and wanted me to work with Liam – so of course I said yes! They had a few specific requests – some photos of Liam alone, some featuring Liam’s soccer hobby, and some with the family dogs. I was so excited!

Senior Soccer Player Photography

The day arrived and we decided to work at the U of M campus since it was right by our houses. We worked with Liam alone, and then with the soccer ball, and then finally with the dogs (who were very good photoshoot models in their own right).

After Liam’s portrait session, we headed to my St Paul photo studio so they could see the “best-of-the-best” from Liam’s session and choose their favorite photos. They had a tough time choosing but narrowed down to their absolute favorites.

Thank You!

Thank you, Sarah + Liam, for working with me for your senior portraits. I had so much fun working with you, and I am thrilled that you love your photos!

Wabasha Street Caves Wedding Photos | Kate + John

By Joanna Carina

Wabasha Street Caves Wedding Photographers

Kate + John were planning their wedding for the Wabasha Street Caves. I was so excited as I loved going to that venue for dance nights before the Covid pandemic, but hadn’t been back in quite awhile. And while their wedding was scheduled there, they also wanted to find a great venue for couple photos beforehand. We talked about options and they fell in love with the idea of the Como Conservatory, so they booked both the Sunken Garden as well as the North Garden for the afternoon before their big event.

We met up on their chilly November afternoon and started photos of the two of them outside the Conservatory, and then worked in both the Sunken Garden and North Garden, and finished up with a few more in the Palm Dome. Once their time was complete, we headed off to the Wabasha Caves for their big event!

Wabasha Street Caves Wedding + Reception

Kate + John’s wedding began with a quick cocktail hour to meet and greet the guests. After cocktails and family portraits, they held their wedding ceremony in front of the Wabasha Caves fireplace. They had some great speeches and toasts given by close friends, and finally tied the knot. Then it was on to the party!

Their reception began with their first dance. They then transitioned into a family dance for themselves and their four kiddos. Then they had an amazing dinner, desserts, cocktails and more partying the night away into the wee hours of the night.

Thank You!

Kate + John, thank you so much for working with me for your wedding photography! I had so much fun working with you and your families, and I’m so happy for you both as you begin your new lives together.

If you are considering a Wabasha Street Caves or Como Conservatory wedding, contact me soon!

BONUS: Take a look at other Como Conservatory weddings I photographed too, including a Sunken Garden wedding, a Covered Porch reception and another North Garden wedding too!

Minneapolis Family Photographers | Bina Family

By Joanna Carina

MN Family Photography

Lindsey contacted me one afternoon about working with her family for their family portraits. They loved the idea of the gorgeous gardens, trees and grounds of Como Park as their backdrop. We settled on an autumn session so as to capture some fall color in the plants and trees. As usual, Como Park was the perfect location for their photos, and they had a wonderful time.

Como Park Family Photos

The whole family were great sports that day. Their two kiddos were 5 and 3 years old. The kiddos were a little nervous at first, but after being able to run around the Como Park grounds for a bit, they were so excited and wanted to keep going. It was hard to get them to stop!

After their session, the Binas visited my St Paul photo studio to see the photos from their family session. They chose their favorite photos, both the four of them together as well as a few of the kiddos having fun, and ordered a set of beautiful fine art prints for their walls.

Thank You!

Thank you, Bina Family, for working with me to capture your family portrait photography. I had so much fun working with you, and I am thrilled that you love your heirloom prints!

Senior Photographers Minneapolis MN | Gwen

By Joanna Carina

Hidden Falls Park Senior Photos

Emily came to me with her vision of her daughter Gwen’s senior photos. She was an outdoor, woodsy kind of gal, so they wanted a place that reflected her best. I showed a few previous galleries of options, and they both loved Hidden Falls Regional Park.

We met up at Hidden Falls one autumn afternoon, and worked together for Gwen’s portraits – they had so much fun! Gwen really loved the waterfall, and then especially loved the woods and trees. The bonus was Gwen wearing her grandfather’s sweater that he had gifted her from his own closet, as she really wanted to surprise him with the photos too.

Minneapolis Senior Photographer

Once we were finished with the portrait session, Gwen + Emily visited my St Paul studio to see the “best-of-the-best” photos from Gwen’s session. We chose their favorites and they settled on a beautiful glass heirloom print box filled with matted fine art prints to treasure forever.

Thank You!

Thank you, Emily + Gwen, for choosing to work with me for your senior photography. I had so much fun working with you both, and I am so happy that you love your photographs. And Gwen, best of luck with your future endeavors!

Family Photographers Minneapolis MN | Ojo-Fati Family

By Joanna Carina

MN Family Photography

Susan + Tolu chose to work with me for their family photos one beautiful early autumn day. We met up at Como Park, and I was then introduced to their two kiddos, Nia and Jayden. Wow, were those two adorable! The kiddos were a little shy at first, but once we got them running around, they couldn’t stop smiling and hamming it up for the camera. Jayden just kept smiling away at me nonstop, while Nia kept twirling her dress around and around and giving me cute flirty smiles. They were so stinkin cute!

Como Park Family Photos

The whole family had a great time. We spent some of our time capturing photos of the four of them together. Then we focused on the kiddos together at first, and then we captured some of each of them alone. They had so much fun, and couldn’t seem to get enough of their cute hamming for the camera!

After the session, Susan + Tolu visited my St Paul photo studio to see the “best-of-the-best” from their family session. They chose their favorite photos, both the four of them together as well as a few of the kiddos looking sweet and adorable.

Thank You!

Thank you, Ojo-Fati family, for working with me to capture your beautiful family portraits. I had so much fun working with you, and I am thrilled that you love your photos!

Senior Guy Photographer MN | Henry

By Joanna Carina

MN Senior Guy Photographers

Beth gave me a call one afternoon to talk about needing senior portraits for her son Henry. We talked through her vision and ideas and we decided that my own studio building, Vandalia Tower, was a great fit for him. I was so excited to be able to utilize my building – featuring its fun landscaping, artwork, neon signage, brick walls, industrial gears and even the water tower – for Henry’s photos.

Vandalia Tower Senior Photos

Henry and Beth visited my studio one chilly autumn day. We consulted on his wardrobe choices and then headed out to capture some cool photos. We worked both outdoors as well as in the lobby and throughout the building for a variety of photos.

After Henry’s portrait session, we headed back upstairs to my photo studio so they could choose their favorite photos for beautiful fine art prints. The prints were so gorgeous to see in person, and they were so excited to receive them!

Thank You!

Thank you, Henry + Beth, for working with me for your senior portraits. I had so much fun working with you, and I am thrilled that you love your photos!

Minneapolis Studio Newborn Photographer | Polzin Family

By Joanna Carina

Newborn Family Portrait Photography

I’ve worked with Jordan + Elliot for awhile, ever since their engagement and wedding several years ago. They recently added a new member to their family when their sweet daughter Presley was born. They wanted to celebrate the occasion with a newborn and family session, and I was so excited to catch up with them and meet Presley!

We met up at my studio on a chilly autumn day, and Presley was SO adorable, and such a rockstar too! She was so happy and cooperative and barely fussed at all. We started with wardrobe coordination, and then captured photos of the three of them, two of them, and then some of Presley alone with her cute custom-made name blanket. They all had a great time, and we got so many cute photos of them together!

After the photoshoot, Jordan + Elliot chose a photo album of their favorites as well as a beautiful wall art collection to display over their fireplace. Everything looked stunning, as per usual – all handmade from my artwork vendor Graphistudio, located in Italy.

Thank You!

Jordan + Elliot, thank you so much for working with me for your beautiful family photography! I had so much fun working with you again, and I hope you love your portraits and wall art!

Senior Portrait Photographer MN | Lindsay

By Joanna Carina

Hidden Falls Park Senior Photos

Lindsay called me one afternoon looking for a senior photographer. She talked through her life and interests, and we decided that Hidden Falls seemed like the perfect location for her session. I also had a quick conversation with her dad, Billy, who gave even more details about Lindsay and who she is, and he also loved the idea of Hidden Falls. Next up, the big day!

We met up at Hidden Falls one autumn afternoon, and Lindsay brought along her dad – and even her grandparents wanted to tag along too! We all had an awesome time at Hidden Falls, and Lindsay was especially excited that the park reflected her personality so well. We had fun photographing by the waterfall and the river, as well as in the woods and trees.

Minneapolis Senior Photos

Once we were finished, I invited Lindsay, her dad and grandparents out to my St Paul studio to show them the final “best-of-the-best” photos from Lindsay’s session. We chose their favorites and they settled on some gorgeous matted fine art prints to treasure forever.

Thank You!

Thank you, Lindsay + Billy, for choosing to work with me for your senior portrait photography. I had so much fun working with you and your family, and I am so happy that you love your photographs. And Lindsay, best of luck with your future endeavors!

Como Conservatory Proposal Photos | Sully + Allison

By Joanna Carina

Como Conservatory Proposal Photography

I received a call one afternoon from Sully. He wanted to propose to his girlfriend Allison at the Como Park Conservatory, in the Sunken Garden, and had rented it out in the near future. The two of them had a strong connection to the Como Conservatory, with Allison’s grandmother being a long-time volunteer, so he knew it would be a special place for her. Once Sully and I confirmed date and time, and made plans to be as sneaky as possible so Allison didn’t suspect anything, it was on to the big event!

Once Sully brought Allison to the Conservatory’s Sunken Garden, I was able to sneak a few photos of the actual proposal before Allison knew what was going on. I loved Sully’s triumphant “whoop” (photo below) when Allison discovered our plan and saw me capturing their photos! She was a great sport and excited for couple photos too. We spent some time in the gorgeous Sunken Garden before heading outdoors for a few last minute photos of them in front of the building. They headed out for a celebratory dinner afterward.

Thank You!

Sully + Allison, thank you so much for working with me for your beautiful Como Conservatory Sunken Garden proposal! I had so much fun working with you, and I wish you the best in your new life together!

If you would love to capture your own Como Conservatory proposal photography, contact me soon!

BONUS: Be sure to check out some other proposals I photographed at Como Park too, including an autumn Como Sunken Garden proposal, a spring Como proposal, a winter Como Park proposal, another spring Como Park proposal, and another autumn Conservatory proposal.

Woodbury Central Park Wedding Photos | Emily + Dustin

By Joanna Carina

Woodbury Central Park Wedding Photographer

I was so excited for Emily + Dustin’s big day! We started at Christ Episcopal Church in Woodbury for the prep time and ceremony. We included some photos there of them beforehand as well, but they opted for no first look, so then it was on to the ceremony!

Once their wedding ceremony was complete, we took a small detour over to Tamarack Nature Preserve for a few photos of them together in nature. They loved it! We walked across the boardwalk and around the pond a bit, then it was on to the reception!

Woodbury Central Park Wedding Reception

We began the reception with group photos, family photos and then photos of Emily + Dustin alone in the Woodbury Central Park gardens. It was so cute! Then they had a quick cocktail hour, and a grand march followed by their first dance and parent dances. They followed that up with dinner and toasts, and then danced on into the night.

Thank You!

Emily + Dustin, thank you so much for working with me for your wedding photography! I had so much fun working with you!
