Personal Brand Headshot Photography | Melissa Dundis

By Joanna Carina Leave a Comment

MN Fine Art Portrait Photography

I received an email from Melissa Dundis, who had recently started her new job as a DJ for Minnesota Public Radio’s classical music station. She inquired about working together for her personal brand portraits and headshots. We talked more, and she had tons of awesome ideas for her photos (even including her sweet little turtle, Roger!) I was so excited about working together! The worldwide pandemic was heading our way, so we were luckily able to squeeze in Melissa’s session before shutting down the studio for Minnesota’s mandated social isolation quarantine.

Headshot Branding Photography

Melissa and I planned out a ton of fun ideas. We ended up capturing a wide variety of portraits, including a few headshots as well as portraits featuring her with a microphone, headphones, her guitar, her writing journal, and her pet turtle Roger. (He was so cute and a very perfect model for her portraits too!) I was even able to take some extra time to create a storybook theme of Melissa and Roger together stepping into a fairy tale world – it was so much fun!

Thank You!

Thank you, Melissa, for choosing to work with me as your fine art studio portrait photographer. I had so much fun working with you (and Roger!), and I am so happy that you loved your photographs.

Also be sure to take a look at some of my other fine art portraits, portrait photography and personal brand photography too! If you’d like to work together for your personal portrait or headshot photography, contact me soon!

Fine Art Portrait Photography | Antonio

By Joanna Carina Leave a Comment

MN Fine Art Portrait Photography

I met Antonio a few years ago when he was married. I had the honor of photographing his wedding, and I had so much fun getting to know him and Chris. They had an absolutely spectacular Landmark Center wedding day. So naturally, I was ecstatic when Antonio contacted me asking about personal portraits for his website a few years later. I loved the idea, and I was so excited to work with him again!

Headshot Branding Photography

We started Antonio’s session with a few quick headshots for his main job website, LinkedIn profile, etc. We then moved on to capturing several fine art portraits of Antonio for his clothing website. He represents a very stylish men’s clothing line, so having stunning portrait photography in their modern wardrobe was important. We were able to capture some casual as well as more formal options.

After his session, Antonio came back to my studio for his Cinematic Presentation and Design Consultation to view his portrait gallery. He was so happy with his photos! He had a tough time choosing his favorites, but ended up with several options. They worked out perfectly for his website, job, LinkedIn, etc.

Thank You!

Thank you, Antonio, for choosing to work with me as your fine art studio portrait photographer. I had so much fun working with you (and seeing Chris again too!), and I am so happy that you loved your photographs.

Take a look at some other fine art portraits, portrait photography and personal brand photography I’ve done too! If you’d like to work together for your personal portrait or headshot photography, contact me soon!

Minneapolis Fine Art Studio Portrait Photography | Pauline

By Joanna Carina Leave a Comment

Fine Art Studio Portrait Photography

Pauline had an amazing idea. Her birthday was coming up, and she decided to celebrate by crafting a beautiful custom dress (that payed homage to her native home of Ghana), and having a portrait photoshoot of herself. She wanted to celebrate herself and how far she had come in life – what a great idea! So she called me and we scheduled her fine art portrait photography session for her birthday. I was so excited to work with her, and to see the amazing dress she created!

Portrait Session

When I saw Pauline’s wrap dress, my jaw hit the floor. She created her look in just a few hours, and it was spectacular! Her dress was in a wrap style, so she could wrap it over her shoulders, or turn it toward the front or back. It had tons of fun options, so we tried a few of our favorite looks that were amazing on her.

Cinematic Presentation + Design Consultation

Once I presented Pauline with the best photos from her portrait session, she was thrilled! She was captivated with so many of the photos, we ended up creating a custom collection of seven pieces of wall art so she could enjoy her photos every day.

Thank You!

Thank you, Pauline, for choosing to work with me as your fine art portrait photographer. I had so much fun working with you, and I am so happy that you love your photographs and wall art. Best of luck with your future endeavors!

Take a look at another portrait photography session and personal branding session that I’ve done too! If you’d like to work together for your portrait photography session, contact me soon!

Minneapolis Fine Art Portrait Photography | Diana Grasselli

By Joanna Carina Leave a Comment

Fine Art Studio Portrait Photography

I met Diana Grasselli over a decade ago. She is such an amazing artist and friend, I always love hanging out with her! She had enjoyed an amazing career as a professional singer, musician and music producer. I loved hearing all her stories of the famous people she had worked with, and the amazing things she had experienced. I was thrilled when we had the chance to work together for her fine art portrait photography session at my St Paul studio, just a few blocks from her music school!

Portrait Session

Diana and I worked together at my portrait studio for a couple of hours. First we started with more traditional portraits, and then we had a bit of fun – she danced around with some lengths of tulle and we captured some amazing “freestyle” looks too. In our short time together we had captured SO many amazing fun photos, it was even tough for me to narrow down to the winners!

Cinematic Presentation + Design Consultation

Once I presented Diana with the best photos from her portrait session, she was thrilled! She was captivated with so many of the photos, and she is planning to use them to promote a new project she is working on. (Cannot wait to hear more about that too!)

Thank You!

Thank you, Diana, for choosing to work with me as your fine art portrait photographer. I had so much fun working with you, and I am so happy that you love your photographs. Best of luck with your future endeavors!

Mill Ruins Park + Guthrie Theater Senior Photos | Amari

By Joanna Carina Leave a Comment

Minneapolis Senior Photography

Amari’s beautiful Minneapolis senior photo session is on the blog today. I was contacted by Amari’s mom to capture her senior photos. She loves theater and was instantly in love with the idea of working at the Guthrie for her photos, and also wanted to work at Mill Ruins Park right next door. Both are perfect locations for a beautiful portrait session!

Guthrie Theater Senior Session

We started our afternoon at the Guthrie Theater. We had fun playing around the nooks and crannies of the theater, and especially loved the view from the Endless Bridge. Once we finished at the Guthrie, we headed down to Mill Ruins Park for more photo fun.

Mill Ruins Park Senior Session

We photographed Amari throughout the Mill Ruins Park area, until the sunset ended our beautiful light. We had so much fun and Amari was laughing and having a great time the whole way.

Once we were finished, I invited the whole family out to my studio to show them the final “best-of-the-best” photos from Amari’s day. They ended up choosing a number of matted fine art prints to treasure forever!

Thank You!

Thank you, Amari, for choosing to work with me for your senior photography. I had so much fun working with you and your family, and I am thrilled that you love your photographs. Amari, best of luck with your future endeavors!

Make sure to take a look at some of my other Minneapolis senior portrait sessions too: Tatiana, Brenda, Holly, Maia, Molly, Maya, Taylor, Annie, Lauren, Maggie, Kate, Claire

Mill Ruins Park Senior Pictures | Tatiana

By Joanna Carina Leave a Comment

Minneapolis Senior Photography

Today I am highlighting Tatiana’s beautiful Minneapolis senior picture session. Tatiana’s mom Teri contacted me requesting a session with Tatiana. They had found my work online and decided to contact me, and I was thrilled! Senior sessions are so much fun, and I was excited to work with them!

Mill Ruins Park Senior Session

Tatiana wanted to hold her senior portrait session at Mill Ruins Park in downtown Minneapolis, along the riverfront. I love that beautiful park! She gravitated toward the park because it was a favorite location of her father, who had passed away just a couple of years ago. Holding her portrait session here was such a perfect homage to her dad.

The day arrived and it was sunny, although a bit on the cold side. We were all dressed in our warm layers and coats, while Tatiana wore her cute dresses and sandals. She persevered and it seemed the cold barely bothered her at all! We wandered through the grounds of the park as Tatiana rotated through three outfit changes and we stopped at numerous locations. We even had time to take a break before sunset to warm up in our cars for a few minutes too.

Viewing + Ordering Session

Teri + Tatiana loved the final images. They settled on ordering an Heirloom Print Box featuring a handmade copper-foiled glass box with heirloom matted 8×10 prints. These boxes are so unique and gorgeous! I am so excited to finally see the final box.

Thank You!

Thank you, Teri + Tatiana, for choosing to work with me as your Minneapolis senior photographer. I had so much fun working with you both, and I am thrilled that you love your images. And Tatiana, best of luck with your future endeavors!

Minneapolis Senior Photography | Hannah

By Joanna Carina Leave a Comment

Minneapolis Senior Photography

Today I am highlighting Hannah’s beautiful Minneapolis Senior Photography. I worked with Hannah at the Maple Grove Arboretum at Elm Creek Park on a beautiful fall day. Take a look at some of the amazing photos we created!

Why Senior Pictures?

One big question many people wonder: why would we have senior pictures taken? School pictures are a yearly tradition, often happening right inside the school itself. Now forward to the last year of high school: it’s a time of tremendous life transition. Often times, seniors will soon leave home for colleges or jobs away from home and/or out of state. They become adults making their way in the world. Senior portraits celebrate that monumental transition.

Professional Senior Pictures

Working with a professional photographer means these portraits are not just standard school portraits under bright lights with generic backdrops. These portrait sessions can be held in a wide variety of locations that reflect the senior’s interests and personalities. From urban industrial scenery, to natural park settings, and anything in between. They can even bring props that reflect their interests, such as musical instruments, sports equipment, dance outfits, pets, etc. The sessions are around 1.5 hours or so, giving time for a variety of posing, locations, and even a wardrobe change or two. The time also allows for the senior to become more relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera. This gives his/her personality a time to shine!

Senior Picture Benefits

Another major benefit of having senior pictures taken is the end product. You get more than just one final pose in front of a dull backdrop. You receive a wide variety of images, from full-length to closeup, from walking to sitting to standing, laughing, smiling, etc. With those images, you can find your favorites. From there you can create an endless variety of heirloom artwork. Our seniors and their families have purchased numerous artwork options. Some include albums showcasing all of their favorite images from their session, matted gift prints for family, smartphone albums, wallet prints, and even wall art.

All in all, senior pictures are an important part of life for a family celebrating the senior’s transition in life. If you are looking for a Minneapolis senior photographer, please contact me soon so we can discuss working together!
