Stone Arch Bridge Engagement Photography | Courtney + Blake

By Joanna Carina

Stone Arch Bridge Engagement Photos

Courtney + Blake live (and spend a lot of time) in downtown Minneapolis. They wanted quintessential engagement photography, so the Stone Arch Bridge fit the bill perfectly. I proposed Father Hennepin Bluff Park engagement photos, as there are so many gorgeous locations which feature the Stone Arch Bridge in the background, and the addition of the river and trees would for such beautiful engagement photos. They agreed in a heartbeat!

Father Hennepin Park Engagement Photos

We visited Father Hennepin Bluff Park in the early fall. The leaves were changing and the sun was getting lower in the sky. The park was ablaze with the golden sun, cool river, and fall colors. It was absolutely gorgeous for our session! The crowds of people filling the park and bridge were evidence that many Minneapolis folks felt the same way. We had such a great time meandering through the beautiful park and creating amazing engagement portraits together. Courtney + Blake also wanted to include their sweet dog Jágr into the photos. She was so patient and cooperative for the session – a real trooper!

Thank You!

Courtney + Blake, thank you so much for choosing to work with me – I loved your Stone Arch Bridge prewedding photography! I am so happy for the two of you, and so excited for your wedding next year. Courtney, your parent’s farm will be such a gorgeous backdrop as you both tie the knot. I am excited to see the barn in all it’s wedding day glory!

BONUS: Make sure to check out Courtney + Blake’s gorgeous rustic farm wedding photography too!

Minneapolis Club Wedding Photography | Stephanie + Travis

By Joanna Carina

Minneapolis Club Wedding

Stephanie + Travis hired me for their Minneapolis Club wedding photos. It’s always a treat to spend time in the Minneapolis Club. I love the classic brick and vine exterior, dark wood paneling, vintage decor, and historic mansion vibe. Steph + Travis are really drawn to the city ambiance. They not only live in the downtown area, but we previously photographed them around the Stone Arch Bridge for their engagement photos. They wanted to visit the Stone Arch Bridge on their wedding day too for its definitive downtown Minneapolis skyline.

Minneapolis Club Wedding Day

Steph + Travis’ day was so spectacular! From their gorgeous venue, to Stephanie’s stunning dress, to the portraits of the two of them in front of the Minneapolis Club, everything was simply amazing! Their portraits at the Stone Arch Bridge were awesome too!

Once they finished their prep time at the Minneapolis Club, we headed out to the front of the building for their First Look photos. Their joy and happiness simply radiated from them as they saw each other for the first time. This is probably my favorite moment of a wedding day. Emotions are running high and we capture every laugh and tear. Once we finished with their portraits, we were able to head down to the Stone Arch Bridge for their wedding party images. Everyone looked absolutely amazing. We followed it all up with family photos back at the Minneapolis Club before their ceremony.

The ceremony was just beautiful and so unique to Steph + Travis. They even featured a bagpipe player during their procession/recession as well as a lyrical song by one of their bridesmaids. After the cocktail hour and cake cutting, we headed up to the magnificent dining room. Their dinner was fabulous, and their toast brought out both laughter and tears. Then their reception featured a dance floor filled with tons of fun!

Thank You!

Stephanie + Travis, thank you so much hiring me as your wedding photographer on one of the most important days of your lives. I am truly honored to have worked with you – you are both so fun and sweet together, and your love for each other is simply enchanting. I cannot wait to see your gorgeous Minneapolis Club wedding photos album, wall art and prints when they are finished!

Stone Arch Bridge Engagement Photography | Stephanie + Travis

By Joanna Carina

Stone Arch Bridge Engagement Photos

Stephanie + Travis had been hoping to have their engagement photography session for quite awhile now. However, their schedule was filled with wedding planning, several international trips and even a new home purchase. Their prewedding photography session was pushed back until barely a month before the big day! The wedding would be at the Minneapolis Club in downtown Minneapolis. Since the city vibe is important to them and their day, they decided a Stone Arch Bridge engagement session was a perfect fit for them.

Father Hennepin Park Engagement Photos

We met up at Father Hennepin Bluff Park so we could have the Stone Arch Bridge, city and beautiful natural scenery around us. And as expected, the park did not disappoint. The quaint trails, wooden bridges, river’s edge, and views of the Stone Arch Bridge gave the feel that we were miles out of the city. However, we were really in the midst of it all.

As a bonus, I recently decided to dust off my film camera and work to create some beautiful, timeless black and white film images during our session. I’m so happy to say that it felt like I just picked up where I left off all those years ago. I LOVE these film images! I’ve worked exclusively digital for about 12 years now. While there is a place in my heart for the pure color achieved with my digital images, there are some significant structural differences with film that I was missing all these years. I’m happy to be back!

Thank You!

Stephanie + Travis, I am so thankful to you for choosing to work with me for your engagement photography. And I am so happy you enjoyed your prewedding photography! I am so excited for your wedding day!

BONUS: Take a look at other engagement sessions I’ve photographed too, including Stone Arch Bridge engagement photos, Mill Ruins Park engagement photos, Father Hennepin Bluffs engagement photos, another Mill Ruins Park engagement session, a waterfall engagement session, a Rogers Lake Park engagement session, Saint Anthony Main engagement pictures, Stone Arch Bridge engagement photos, a Father Hennepin Bluffs engagement session and another Father Hennepin Bluffs Park engagement photo session.

Stone Arch Bridge Engagement Photography | Kim + Lucas

By Joanna Carina

Stone Arch Bridge Engagement Photos

When Kim and Lucas first started planning for their engagement photography, they decided to go to the Stone Arch Bridge. They loved the beauty of the old stonework and archways of the bridge, as well as the city buildings. I absolutely love to create Father Hennepin Bluff Park prewedding photography. It’s so awesome working right next to the Stone Arch Bridge among the trees, trails, wooden bridges, and the river’s edge. Kim and Lucas were more than happy to spend our session at Father Hennepin Bluff Park when I told them how perfect it was for them!

Father Hennepin Bluff Park Engagement Photos

We visited the park on a late weekday afternoon. The weather was perfect and the park was nearly empty – lucky us! We had plenty of time to wander around the trails, bridges, stairways and beach. It was fun chatting and laughing and getting cute photos of the two of them spending time together. We had a great time, and our session seemed to be over in a flash (or at least until the sun went down and it was practically dark outside lol!) The two of them were even able to head out afterward to a nearby restaurant and enjoy a lovely, romantic dinner.

Thank You!

Kim and Lucas, I had such a great time working with you on your engagement photography. Thank you so much for choosing to work with me as your engagement photographer. And of course, I am so excited for your Aria Minneapolis wedding photos next year – it’s going to be awesome!

Mill Ruins Park Engagement Photography | Chris + Antonio

By Joanna Carina

Mill Ruins Park Engagement Photos

There is something so sweet about these two. The glances. Cute jokes. The time when Antonio pretended to almost push Chris into the river, causing them to burst out in the most infectious laughter until we were all crying. Yeah, these guys are awesome. Definitely my kind of people! I am so excited to be able to photograph their wedding next summer at the Landmark Center in downtown St Paul.

LGBT Engagement Photos

When deciding on their engagement session location, Chris + Antonio decided they wanted Mill Ruins Park engagement photos near downtown Minneapolis. And of course, why not? It’s a perfect mix of vintage stone structures in a grand natural setting. Old stone and ironwork ruins, grasses and wildflowers, an amazing riverfront, and the stunning Stone Arch Bridge all encapsulated in one location. It’s pretty spectacular!

Minneapolis Engagement Photos

They spent lots of time wandering around beautiful Mill Ruins Park so we could find gorgeous points to photograph the them together. We photographed among the stone and iron ruins and the wildflower fields, as well as down by the river and under the Stone Arch Bridge. We had such an amazing experience cracking jokes, laughing and getting to know each other! Our session seemed to be over in a flash.

Chris + Antonio visited my studio to see their final photos and choose their favorites. They had such a tough time choosing among all the options! They settled on a number of favorite images to use for an engagement photo album and wall art. I can’t wait to see everything in final print. I know it will look absolutely amazing!

Thank You!

Chris + Antonio, thank you so much for choosing to work with me as your engagement photographer. I had such a great time working with you. I’m so excited for your wedding next year. It will be tough to wait until August!

Mill City Museum + Mill Ruins Park Senior Photography | Claire

By Joanna Carina

Mill Ruins Park Senior Photography

I’ll admit – she was brave. It was another cold, blustery day in Minneapolis, but Claire WANTED to have her senior photos at Mill Ruins Park because she loved the images she had seen of that beautiful location. And I warned her – it was going to be cold! But she was brave, as well as prepared. We started out at the Mill City Museum to warm up a bit, then headed over to the park. We worked for well over an hour in the freezing wind, but Claire was still cheerful, laughing, and making jokes with her mom and me the whole time.

Mill City Museum Senior Photography

Once she froze enough, we headed over to the Mill City Museum to warm up and finish her senior session there. So much easier to photograph when you’re warm lol! Congratulations on your high school graduation, Claire – and I hope you enjoyed your senior prom as well!

If you’re considering senior picture photography, contact me soon to discuss how we would work together!
