Based in St. Paul Minnesota, Joanna serves clients across Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs - helping seniors look and feel their absolute best for this milestone moment.
OUR SENIOR PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY PROCESS
Joanna strives to make your senior photography process easy for you. Here is a bit of what you can expect when working together:
STEP 1: First, I will connect over a phone call to discuss your senior photo vision, our process and our artwork options. Once you book, I'll provide guidance on what to wear and what to expect during your session.
STEP 2: Now comes the big day: your senior photoshoot! We'll meet up for your portraits and work together until we get a wide variety of options to choose from.
STEP 3: Next, I’ll present the best-of-the-best photos to you at my St. Paul studio. We’ll choose and order your favorite photos and portrait artwork at this time. All your chosen photos will receive my Master Art Retouching to perfect every detail, and your heirloom artwork will be custom-designed just for you.
STEP 4: Your digital photos will be sent within two weeks, and your gorgeous heirloom artwork will be delivered a month afterward to fill your home with life and love.

Q: HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK? To secure your preferred date, I recommend booking your photoshoot at least 4–6 weeks in advance. That said, I understand life can be unpredictable - I’m often able to accommodate last-minute appointments when my schedule allows.
Q: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
1. Dress to Impress: Choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Your senior photos are a chance to showcase your personality and style.
2. Think Timeless over Threndy: While it’s great to express your style, avoid overly trendy pieces that may quickly date your photos. Opt for classic, flattering looks that will stand the test of time.
3. Consider Location: Consider the setting of your session. Soft, earthy tones work beautifully in parks or natural areas, while bold, vibrant colors pop in urban environments.
4. Layer and Accessorize: Jackets, scarves, jewelry, hats, and fun shoes can add variety and depth to your photos.
Q: HOW MANY OUTFITS CAN I WEAR? Most seniors choose one primary outfit, but you’re welcome to bring two or three options for variety. I’m happy to offer input on what will photograph best if you’d like help deciding.
Q: HOW DO I CHOOSE A LOCATION? I offer sessions at my St. Paul studio and have many favorite outdoor locations across the Twin Cities. I also travel throughout the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area - including Roseville, Mendota Heights, Woodbury, Stillwater, Edina, Bloomington, and more. Have a location special to you? I’m happy to photograph you there too!
Q: WHAT IS YOUR PAYMENT PROCESS? Your session fee is due at booking to reserve your date. Any artwork purchases are made during your Cinematic Presentation + Design Consultation, which takes place after your portrait session.
Q: SHOULD MY FAMILY ATTEND MY PORTRAIT SESSION? It’s completely up to you. While it’s not required, bringing a parent, sibling, or friend can be a fun way to ease any nerves.
Q: WHERE WOULD I CHANGE OUTFITS? If we’re not in my studio or at a location with a public restroom, we’ll use your vehicle as a private changing space.

Q: WHERE AND WHEN DOES THE CINEMATIC PRESENTATION + DESIGN CONSULTATION TAKE PLACE This meeting happens at my St. Paul studio and can take place as soon as the same (or next) day after your session. Otherwise, we’ll schedule it shortly after. During this time, you’ll choose your favorite photos and design your artwork.
Q: WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE CINEMATIC PRESENTATION + DESIGN CONSULTATION? The senior and at least one parent/guardian or decision-maker should attend. Additional family members are welcome too!
Q: ARE DIGITAL FILES INCLUDED IN THE SESSION FEE Digital photos are not included in the session fee, but corresponding edited photos are provided with your artwork purchase.
