Minneapolis photographer Carina Photographics specializes in fine art wedding and portrait photography. Here are some answers to a few common questions:
WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE?
I blend three core styles to create imagery that is artistic, emotional, and uniquely you:
• Fine Art: My images are thoughtfully composed, beautifully lit, and artfully finished with a signature editing style - ranging from vibrant and dramatic to soft and ethereal.
• Editorial: Inspired by magazine storytelling, I encourage natural interaction and gently guide posing to capture relaxed, elegant portraits that feel authentic and timeless.
• Storytelling: I document your day or session as it unfolds - capturing both the big moments and the subtle, in-between details that bring your story to life.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
Many clients reserve their wedding date 12-18 months in advance. Portrait clients may reserve their date two weeks or more in advance. Dates are not held without a signed contract and paid retainer, and it’s common to receive multiple inquiries for the same date - so please reach out as soon as you’re considering working together.
WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I use professional Canon mirrorless camera bodies and L-Series lenses, and a full line of portable lighting. I always bring backup equipment to ensure your session runs smoothly.
ARE YOU INSURED?
Yes. I carry full liability and equipment insurance. If your venue requires a certificate of insurance, I’m happy to provide it directly.
DO YOU CHARGE TRAVEL FEES?
Travel within 50 miles of St Paul (ZIP code 55114) is complimentary. Beyond that, a mileage fee of $1/mile (each way) applies. If your location is more than two hours away, I request overnight accommodations - ideally at the same hotel as your guests.
DO YOU HAVE REFERENCES?
Absolutely! I’m happy to connect you with past clients. You can also read their experiences on Google and Yelp.
HOW DO WE RESERVE OUR DATE?
Once I receive your signed contract and session fee or wedding retainer, your date is officially reserved. Please note: verbal or email agreements do not secure a date. Wedding balances are due 30 days prior to your event. Payments are accepted via cash, check, or credit card. All payments are non-refundable but may be transferred to a new session date (pending availability).
WHEN WILL WE SEE OUR FINAL PHOTOS AND ARTWORK?
• Portrait clients: We meet for your Cinematic Premier + Design Consultation shortly after your session - often as soon as the same day.
• Wedding clients: Expect your cinematic slideshow and final digital photo delivery approximately 4–6 weeks after your wedding.
Afterward, we begin designing your custom heirloom artwork together. Artwork can take 4-8 weeks for production from the time of order.
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE SEE/RECEIVE?
• Weddings: You’ll receive approximately 500–750 fully edited photos from an 8–10 hour day.
• Portraits: You’ll view around 25–50 photos during your Cinematic Premier + Design Consultation before making your final selection for artwork purchase.
ARE ALL THE PHOTOS EDITED?
Absolutely! Every final photograph is professionally edited for color, tone, composition and more. Select portraits receive Master Art Retouching for an elevated, polished finish - consistent with my fine art portfolio.
HOW ARE THE PHOTOS BACKED UP AND STORED?
Photos are immediately saved to dual memory cards, backed up to my main and secondary hard drives, and stored in the cloud. I keep copies for at least one year - usually longer - but recommend backing up your own copies as well.
WE'RE INTERESTED! WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP?
Wonderful! Let’s begin with a phone call or email to discuss your vision. We can also meet at my St. Paul studio, where you’ll see portfolio samples and explore our luxurious heirloom artwork in person.
